Lexington County School District Three is excited to announce that B-L Primary School is one of three schools being featured on the TransformSC Bus Tour on Thursday, September 26th. The school, which houses the youngest Panther cubs in the district, is the first stop of the day for business leaders, community leaders and policymakers as they travel around the Midlands to visit schools that are making strides towards transforming education in South Carolina. After making their way to B-L Primary School, guests will then hop back on the bus and travel to see students at Red Bank Elementary and Meadow Glen Middle Schools, which are a part of Lexington County School District One.
2019 marks the fourth consecutive year that TransformSC has led the bus tour to showcase the innovative ways that schools and districts are designing, launching, promoting and proving transformative practices in the classroom. TransformSC is an education initiative of the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness and is a collaboration of business leaders, educators, students, parents and policymakers who are working to transform the public education system in South Carolina so that every student graduates prepared for careers, college and citizenship.
B-L Primary School, along with B-L Elementary School, was first accepted into TransformSC’s network of innovative schools in October of 2017. In order to be admitted into the network, the school submitted a three-year innovation plan that was evaluated and approved by TransformSC’s Action Team Chairs and staff. TransformSC schools receive a variety of supports and opportunities through participation in the network, including access to national experts, mentorship opportunities with other innovative schools and assistance with the implementation of innovation plans. Currently, there are a total of 71 schools representing 27 districts in the network.
While en route to Batesburg-Leesville, guests on the bus tour will prepare to go on a safari trip through the halls of B-L Primary School by watching a video that highlights the programs and opportunities available to Panther families at the school. Then, when they arrive at BLPS, they will be greeted by students, teachers and administrators who will lead tours around the school, showcasing innovations with coding and personalized learning, as well as highlighting the BOOST (Beginning Opportunities Offered for Student Transition) and Montessori programs.
“We are thrilled and honored that B-L Primary School was selected to be one of the showcase schools on this year’s TransformSC Bus Tour. Our teachers and administrators have worked hard to be progressive and to emphasize the skills that are needed to grow students who are equipped and ready to be productive members of society once they leave the public education system--whether that be via a career or a college or military opportunity. We are anxiously awaiting the bus tour guests and know it will be a great day for BLPS and Lexington Three,” said Angie Rye, Chief Academic Officer for Lexington Three.
