Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

Batesburg-Leesville Primary School prides itself in serving as the “Foundation for Learning in Lexington Three”. We recognize that we must provide all our students with the building blocks for a successful and productive life.

BLPS offers opportunities for our students to reach their individual potentials with a variety of educational experiences.  We house approximately 620 students with a 3 year old developmentally delayed class, 5 K4 classes, 8 K5, 8 first and second grade classes, and special education support.  We also expand the horizons of our students with art, music, physical education, computer assisted learning labs, media classes and guidance. Our library is top-notch and provides opportunities for students to explore numerous collections of current books and technology lessons with PowerPoint, research, Chromebooks, iPads, coding and much more.

At BLPS we strive to help our students realize that we are a school family and that the world outside our building needs our help. We do this by sponsoring activities for our students to raise money for a variety of organizations such as  Relay for Life, Jump Rope for Heart, and St. Judes Trike a Thon. We are very proud of our Special Olympics Team and support them with a send-off parade each year.  We also have many opportunities for our students to understand and celebrate student differences such as Project Unify, Talk to the Hands Club, and a Spread the Word to End the R Word assembly.

Knowing that “fun” is an important part of a child’s growth, BLPS provides numerous experiences for our students to promote an atmosphere of healthy and happy learning. We have 3 Book Fairs each year, field trips, family nights, choral programs, assemblies, the Book Parade and the K4 Box Parade.

At BLPS we strive to keep parents informed and include parents in the educational experiences of our students because the parent school partnership is paramount for students to have a successful learning career.  We do this by including parents in family nights, sending weekly newsletters home, sending Peach Jar flyers through email, and School Reach phone messages.  We also are expanding our school choices for parents by including Montessori classes in K5, a well researched, highly successful program, which teaches students to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens. An after school program is also a choice for parents whose students need structure in the afternoons and additional support with their learning.

We pride ourselves in being innovative at BLPS and always pursuing the latest and greatest for our students.  We are going through the steps to become a STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) school.  We also are constantly upgrading our technology so our students can become proficient in the use of iPads and Chromebooks.  Next year we will be able to offer one device for every 2 students.

Our greatest vision for BLPS is that every student who enters our doors leaves knowing that they had the best educational experience possible and they are prepared to meet the challenges of the next stages of their lives.  We invite you to join our efforts in helping us with this important endeavor.
