Media Center

The BLPS Media Center is a vibrant, future-ready space where students in all grades are exposed to a variety of traditional and digital reading resources. Students are able to explore many genres and types of literature to cultivate their individual reading tastes. Our goal is for students to learn how to locate the books that they love so that they will become lifelong readers who read for both information and entertainment.

Students learn to be creators through the variety of Makerspaces in our Media Center. They are encouraged to use the world class skills of critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving to complete the activities.

Students in the first and second grades are also taught curricula integrating elements of information literacy, digital citizenship, and coding through bi-weekly Computer Science lessons.

Library Circulation and Limits
K-4 and K-5 students are allowed to check out one book and 1st and 2nd graders are allowed to check out two books.

Library Fees and Damages
If your child has a lost or damaged book from a past year at BLPS, you must pay that fine before he/she will be allowed to check out a book this school year. It is important for students to check out library books so that they can practice responsibility and strengthen the reading skills they are learning in the classroom.  Please work with us to help teach your child how to take care of and keep up with their books. Restricting check-out privileges for your child hinders their ability to learn these valuable life skills.
