Lexington County School District Three announces that Tuesday, January 9th will be an eLearning Day for all students and staff members across the district due to the potential for high winds and severe weather resulting from a strong storm system that is moving into the area overnight. The National Weather Service is predicting winds to increase throughout the morning on Tuesday with gusts possibly reaching 45 mph by late morning and continuing into the late afternoon/evening hours. There is also a threat of severe thunderstorms and tornado potential. Therefore, out of concern for the safety of our Panther students and staff, Lexington Three will switch to an eLearning Day on Tuesday, January 9th.
What is an eLearning Day?
An eLearning Day in Lexington Three means that students do not physically come to school. Instead, they complete assignments remotely from the safety of their home. More detailed information can be found below.
eLearning Details:
All students in grades K4 through 12th grade will have eLearning assignments to complete on Tuesday, January 9th.
Students in grades K4 through 2nd grade will have written assignments to complete that will be sent home on Monday, January 8th. Students in the 3rd through 12th grades will have assignments to complete via Google Classroom (Chromebooks will be sent home on Monday, January 8th). Unless otherwise indicated by the teacher, all assignments should be turned in by no later than Friday, January 19th. Please note that internet access is not a requirement for any of these assignments to be completed. Students who have assignments that need to be completed using a Chromebook will have them loaded onto their Chromebook prior to leaving school on Monday, January 8th. If internet access is not available at home, the completed assignments should be left open on your child’s Chromebook as they will automatically sync and update once the Chromebook is back inside the confines of our district internet system. All students in grades 3rd through 12th should bring their Chromebooks back to school on Wednesday, January 10th. Any student who has questions about an assignment can email his/her teacher.
Our Office of Child Nutrition staff members are sending home food bags with each student on Monday, January 8th. Please be sure to check your child’s bookbag for these items.
Afterschool Events:
All afterschool-related events to include sports games, sports practices, the Afterschool Program, meetings, classes at the Lifelong Learning Center, etc. are canceled on Tuesday, January 9th. Please note that the Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees meeting that was planned for Tuesday, January 9th has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 16th at 6 pm at the District Office.
