Back-to-School Welcome From Superintendent Dr. Ashley Atkinson

Dear Panthers,

We hope you all had time to rest, rejuvenate, and spend quality time with your loved ones over the course of the summer break. It is with extreme excitement and eager anticipation that we near the official start of the 2022-2023 school year. Our administrators have poured their hearts into preparing for the new school year over the summer and we can't wait to open our doors for students on August 15th.

Last year was quite a successful year in Lexington Three despite ongoing challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. We were able to provide face-to-face instruction with limited disruption for most of the school year and celebrated many milestones including the groundbreaking on multiple bond referendum projects at Batesburg-Leesville High School, the return to student performances and special events including the musical Frozen, Jr. and Special Olympics in the spring, and were able to return to more “normal” celebrations at the end of the school year such as awards day ceremonies.

We want to assure you that just like we conquered and met challenges with determination during the 2021-2022 school year, we are fully prepared to persevere through any difficulties that may occur this year. We remain deeply committed to providing safe, healthy learning environments for all of our Panthers and to our Lexington Three mission of “preparing students for the future...now.” This includes a comprehensive approach to helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by continuing to provide a personalized learning experience that grows each child to his/her full potential.

The future is certainly bright in Lexington School District Three. This year, we are anxiously looking forward to opening up a brand new Career and Technology Education Center on the campus of Batesburg-Leesville High School. We also excitedly are watching the transformation of the new front entrance that’s being built at Batesburg-Leesville High School and look to break ground on construction of a new media center and cafeteria this year at Batesburg-Leesville Primary School. These projects are necessary improvements as we continue to advance our district forward as a leader in education.

Thank you for your support of our schools and the children we serve. I consider it a privilege and an honor to serve as Superintendent of Lexington County School District Three and look forward to partnering with you for the success of our students.

With Panther Pride,

Ashley Atkinson
