After several years of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, staff members at B-L Primary School are excited to restart the WATCH D.O.G.S. program during the 2022-2023 school year.
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a family and community engagement initiative that has two primary goals:
- To provide positive male role models for students, thus demonstrating by their presence that education is important
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying
WATCH D.O.G.S. participants spend at least one day a year at their child's school volunteering. The program has been around in schools since 1998 and has been a tremendous success at institutions across the country, including at B-L Primary School.
Any father or father-figure (grandfathers, uncles, etc.) is invited to participate. Those interested should fill out the sheet that was sent home last week with BLPS students, as well as send in a copy of their driver's license. All WATCH D.O.G.S. participants must undergo a background check.
Anyone with questions can contact BLPS (803-532-4452) and ask to speak with Guidance Counselor Darlene Simpkins or Coach Rob Bouknight.
