Lexington County School District Three announces that Friday, November 11th will be an eLearning Day for students and staff members across the district due to the potential for severe weather resulting from Hurricane Nicole. District administrators have been working closely with emergency preparedness officials to monitor the potential impacts the storm could bring to our district. Forecasters anticipate strong wind gusts on Friday morning that would make it unsafe to safely transport students on district buses. Per SC Department of Education regulations, buses are not allowed to operate in high winds. In addition, the threat for tornadoes in our area remains high on Friday.
The move to eLearning on November 11th means that any scheduled school-related activities such as games, practices, meetings, etc. are canceled. Our highest priority in Lexington Three is the safety of our students and staff and all decisions are made with this in mind. More specific information regarding the eLearning Day on Friday, November 11th can be found below.
All students in grades K4 through 12th grade will have eLearning assignments to complete on Friday, November 11th. Assignments will be shared with students via Google Classroom in grades 1st through 12th and students will bring devices home on Thursday, November 10th. K4 students will bring written assignments home on Thursday, November 10th. K5 students will have assignments provided in Google Classroom, but will also have some written assignments for completion. Unless otherwise indicated by the teacher, all assignments should be turned in upon return to school on Monday, November 14th. Please note that internet access is not a requirement for any of these assignments to be completed. Students who have assignments that need to be completed using a Chromebook will have them loaded on their Chromebook prior to leaving school on Thursday, November 10th. If internet access is not available at home, the completed assignments should be left open on your child’s Chromebook as they will automatically sync and update once the Chromebook is back inside the confines of our district internet system. All students should bring their Chromebook back to school on Monday, November 14th. Any student who has questions about an assignment can email his/her teacher on Friday, November 11th.
All students will be sent home from school on Thursday, November 10th with a bagged breakfast and lunch. In addition, students will have the option of bringing home small cartons of milk with them as well on Thursday, so please be sure to check your child’s book bag when they arrive home in order to prevent food spoilage.
